Phlex Carbon CFTM

Carbon Fiber Non-Woven | Versatile Materials for the Way You Manufacture

Every manufacturing process has its own material requirements. PhlexCarbon CFTM gives manufacturers flexibility within a single non-woven format, with options across carbon fiber grades, thermoplastic fibers and areal weights.

PhlexCarbon CFTM is a wet-laid mat of randomly oriented carbon fibers co-mingled with thermoplastic fibers. Ideal for compression molding, it is available using high-strength (standard-modulus) or intermediate-modulus carbon fiber and can be combined with a range of thermoplastic fibers.

Produced in Lake City, South Carolina, PhlexCarbon CFTM utilizes repurposed carbon fibers.

One Material Format, Multiple Possibilities

The right combination of carbon fiber and thermoplastic depends on what you're manufacturing. That's why
PhlexCarbon CFTM isn't limited to a single fiber configuration.

Choose between high-strength (standard-modulus) and intermediate-modulus carbon fiber, with thermoplastic options
ranging from standard fibers such as PP, PET and PA6 to more advanced fibers such as PPS and PEEK. This gives you a range of available material combinations within a wet-laid, randomly oriented mat designed for compression molding

High-Strength
01.

High-Strength(Standard-Modulus) Carbon Fiber

PhlexCarbon CFTM is available with high-strength, standard-modulus carbon fiber featuring a 7-micron filament diamete

The high-strength fiber has a tensile strength of 4,413 MPa, tensile modulus of 231 GPa and elongation at break of 1.7%.

Intermediate-Modulus Carbon Fiber
02.

Intermediate-Modulus Carbon Fiber

For requirements calling for intermediate-modulus fiber, PhlexCarbon CFTM is also available with a 5-micron filament diameter.

The intermediate-modulus fiber has a tensile strength of 5,480 MPa, tensile modulus of 276 GPa and elongation at break of 1.9%.

More Flexibility in the Details

Material requirements don't always fit neatly into a standard specification.
PhlexCarbon CFTM is available in 100, 200 and 400 g/m² areal weights, with other custom weights available upon request.

The material is supplied in roll form at a 1.2 m width and nominal 400–500 mm roll diameter. Stitch bonding is also available upon request.

Whether you're evaluating a standard configuration or have different weight requirements in mind, talk to our team about the options available for
